Tell us a little about yourself…

I am a small-town Montana native. After adventuring to Washington D.C. and earning my J.D. at The George Washington University Law School, I returned to Helena, Montana and began my career as a litigator.  Over a course of time, and a few beers, I was convinced to make a practice switch and join the tax-exempt finance team at Jackson, Murdo & Grant P.C.–I joined as a Shareholder in July 2017.  My free time is spent teaching my kids to ski and mountain bike (during the short time Montana is without snow).

What are some reasons that encouraged you to become a NABL member?

I am the type of person who wants to excel in all I do. When I switched my legal practice to tax-exempt finance, I soon realized that taking advantage of all the benefits of NABL membership would be key to achieving excellence in my new area of practice.

As a past attendee at Fundamentals 2018 (The Essentials), what encouraged you to return to The Essentials?

The first time I attended The Essentials my attention was wide spread and it was hard to know which sessions would be most relevant to me.  I feel that after a few years of practice, I can target specific topics that are tailored to my practice and which address specific questions I have encountered on bond issues.

Which session(s) are you looking forward to the most at The Essentials: Virtual 2020?

I have circled “Structuring and Financial Aspects of a Municipal Bond Transaction”, “Conduit Issues & Issuers”, “Refunding & Reissuance”, and “Qualified 501(c)(3) Bonds” as sessions I definitely want to attend.
