Tell us something unique about yourself.

I am one of very few bond attorneys who can say (with an honest face) that they actually closed a major bond deal on 9/11.

How has serving on the faculty and now chairing The Essentials been beneficial to you and your practice?

Serving on The Essentials (and Fundamentals) panels over the years has allowed me to connect with practitioners from all over the country, which has provided me an invaluable forum to discuss and exchange ideas, and form lasting friendships. In addition, The Essentials instructional materials are so comprehensive that they have been excellent reference materials for me in my everyday practice throughout the years.

Why do you think The Essentials is a “must-attend” conference for public finance participants?

The Essentials is a “must-attend” for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, no other forum provides new attorneys, municipal officers, underwriters and other industry participants with 360 degree coverage of all aspects of municipal finance law practice, including latest developments. Dedicated and learned faculty “pull away the curtain” and demystify municipal finance law in a user-friendly manner. Attendees are also provided with fantastic opportunities to network with practitioners and officials from across the country. Quite frankly, there is no other conference like it!

Do you see any recent trends or real-time issues that new bond lawyers need to consider in their practice?

With the heightened scrutiny placed on bond deals by federal regulators, it is now more important than ever for new bond lawyers and industry participants to learn how to “cross the t’s and dot the i’s” on every transaction, and have an in-depth source of knowledge from which to draw from. This is exactly what The Essentials is all about!
