Media Policy
The purpose of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) media policy is to facilitate clear, consistent messages with members of the media and the general public. This policy encompasses all NABL content and communications distributed via telephone, print, web, social media, and email channels.
We provide our members, market participants, and the public with educational content and programming about key public finance law topics. We welcome media coverage of our public events, publications, and public content. The frank and open discussions that take place through NABL benefit our municipal market considerably. To facilitate these candid discussions, we request members of the media and the general public follow the media policy outlined below when referencing or sharing our events and content.
- Public Sessions
We host public sessions throughout the year, particularly during our signature conferences, in which members of the media and government officials are invited to participate. We ask that members of the media identify themselves at the start of in-person sessions or via the comments box on virtual sessions. All comments made by non-governmental speakers during the session may be quoted or paraphrased without attribution under generally accepted rules. Without permission, you may list the speaker(s) as attendees at the NABL-hosted session. Non-governmental speakers’ comments may be quoted for attribution only if you receive confirmation from the commenter via email or phone. The NABL staff is happy to help you make the necessary connections. Government speakers’ remarks are open to attribution.
- Member-Exclusive Sessions
To encourage open discussion and strategic thinking, we occasionally host events that are limited to NABL members and are strictly off the record. We generally delineate these sessions at the start of the event and in our pre-event marketing. Non-members, including government officials and members of the media, are not permitted to attend these events. - Recordings
We frequently record public sessions and can make such recordings available to members of the media shortly after the conclusion of a conference. Members of the media may also record public sessions exclusively for their own reference. Recordings of NABL-hosted sessions may only be redistributed with written permission of NABL. Contact us at media@nabl.org to obtain written permission to redistribute or share partial recordings. - Published Content
All publicly facing content found in print, email distributions, on our website (not requiring a member login to access), and on social media channels is available for citation and quotes without permission. Content that exists behind NABL’s paywall (requires a member login to access) is available for quotation or use under fair use standards without permission but may only be reproduced or redistributed with written permission from NABL.
Please reach out to media@nabl.org with any questions regarding our media policy or to inquire about a speaker quote for attribution.
