Mar 5, 2010
On February 11, 2010, Congress confirmed three of President Obama’s treasury nominees. The Senate confirmed Charles Collyns as the Assistant Secretary of International Finance; Marisa Louise Lago as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Markets and Development; and, Mary John Miller as the Assistant Secretary of Financial Markets.
Collyns was most recently Deputy Director of the research department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he led the team responsible for preparing the World Economic Outlook. He has held a range of positions at IMF and is author of a number of publications on international macroeconomics.
Lago was a former executive at Citibank and has also worked for economic development agencies in New York City and Boston. She was appointed by New York Governor David A. Paterson (D) in August 2008 to head the Empire State Development Corporation, but resigned after less than a year in office.
Miller comes to the Treasury Department from T. Rowe Price, where she directed global fixed income investments for the firm. She began her 26 year career there as a municipal security credit analyst, eventually rising to become a Vice President.
