NABL Seeking Volunteers to Work on NABL Solid Waste Comments Due December 15th

On September 15, 2009, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released a notice of proposed rulemaking on the definition of solid waste disposal facilities for tax-exempt bond purposes. The proposed regulations withdraw the notice of proposed rulemaking REG-140492-02, published in the Federal Register on May 10, 2004, and include an announcement of a public hearing on the proposed rulemaking.

As part of its educational mission, NABL submits formal comments to federal regulatory agencies with respect to proposed regulations, rulings and other action affecting state and municipal bond obligations.  NABL relies on its members to volunteer in order to fulfill this important function.

The NABL Tax Committee is currently seeking volunteers to assist with drafting the NABL comments on the proposed solid waste regulations.  Charles Henck, Ballard Spahr LLP, and John Van Duys, Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., are heading the NABL comment project under the direction of the NABL Tax Committee Chairman Perry Israel, Law Office of Perry Israel.  If you would like to participate in the NABL comment project, please contact Charlie at henck@ballardspahr.com or John at jvanduys@hsblawfirm.com.   If you would like to work on additional or other Tax Committee projects, please contact Perry Israel at perry@103law.com.
